Raphael Jerónimo Calderón (25 years)

After studying Political Science in Boston and Geneva for his undergrads (summa cum laude), the founder of EUforIA did a masters in International Relations at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva and at Sciences Po in Paris. During his studies, Jerónimo was a fellow of the Swiss Academic Foundation and scholarship holder of Boninchi, UniverSuisse and IHEID.


End of 2009 he decided to quit his highly promising fast track career at the (at the time) world's sixth biggest company in order to dedicate himself full time to running EUforIA. In recognition of his past commitment, he has been selected as a Leading Changemaker by Ashoka YouthVenture Germany, has won the Staples Youth Social Entrepreneur Competition and has been invited to several international youth conferences as a guest speaker.


As a Bolivian-Swiss dual citizen, he has already had the possibility to gain professional experience in both nations’ administrations. His activities in different youth organizations, as well as in the Think Tank Brainstore, have enabled him to take on new responsibilities and enrich his social, organizational and creative abilities.

Madeleine Imbeck (22 years) - madeleine@euforiaction.org

 

Madeleine is member of the Swiss Academic Foundation and studies classical music and recorder at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. Multiple laureate of the Schweizerische Jugendmusikwettbewerb she is working together with composers and plays first releases of their compositions.

She wrote her high school thesis in the area of organic agriculture Biochemistry on the “Organic Sprout Suppressants in Potato Tuber Storage - The Effect of Different Sprout Suppressants on Hydrolytic Enzyme Activities of Potato Eyes”, winning several prices at the 40th national competition of Schweizer Jugend forscht and obtaining useful scientific insights for organic farmers.

Yoko Malbos (26 years old)

Yoko Malbos is a French and American citizen living in Geneva since 2001. Having obtained a degree at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, she managed projects for sustainable development and protection of human rights at Friends of Humanity for 2 years (www.friendsofhumanity.ch).

In October 2009, she started working for EUforIA as executive manager and is currently working on setting up a permanent Secretariat for EUforIA in Geneva.

 

Driven by a strong sense of responsibility, she has over the years commited to Amnesty International, Greenpeace, the Geneva International Model United Nations (GIMUN), and, since its creation, EUforIA. She is a founding member and tresasurer of the association Libertŕ, dedicated to the protection of victims of human trafficking.

Matthias Kuhlmeier (25 years)

Kuli is German and finishing up his double major in Communications and American Studies at the Technical University in Dresden. Besides that he taught a tutorial at his University and, among other things, worked as a private teacher of English. During his Graduate program, Kuli spent over a year at the East Coast of the United States, where he studied Journalism and Television and interned with a small company. After his graduation in the spring of 2009 he aspires to start his Journalism career and to work all over the globe. Apart from his interest in current affairs and the media, Kuli enjoys playing and watching sports and reading good literature.
