Our History
EUforIA was founded by six students from different European countries during our year abroad at Boston University in 2006/2007. Realizing that we had more in common than being foreign in a big city, we quickly formed strong friendships. The idea to create Europeans United for Informed Action (EUforIA ) grew out of our common interests and values.
Based on our experiences abroad, we realized the great potential of communication and teamwork. It turned out that despite our different political, cultural and social backgrounds, we all had the same basic beliefs and ideals. Interests and concerns of young Europeans seemed to transcend national borders.
We felt that in order to make a difference, the energy and commitment of young leaders of tomorrow simply needed to be united and led into the right direction. Inspired by already existing young and ambitious organizations in the US and Europe, we decided to found EUforIA in the spring of 2007. As a non-profit and non-governmental organization, EUforIA helps advocating tolerance, dialogue and exchange among the leaders of tomorrow and thus promotes informed action across borders.
Since May 2007, EuforIA s goal is to inspire a generation of young Europeans to become active and involved, to take on today s challenges and help solve tomorrow s problems. The organization currently has members in five European countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. We are also reaching out to Denmark, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland and the Netherlands, where students have already shown profound interest in implementing EUforIA s ideas.
