Concept of the weekend
We are a group of students who are fed up with prejudices and inflammatory media campaigns against migrants! Together with like-minded people, we want to find out what we can do in our environment to improve the integration process and to benefit increasingly from the enriching intercultural experience provided by migration.
On Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of March, fifty young Swiss people who are especially motivated to undertake something or who are already developing a project in this field will meet in Bern to exchange their ideas and experiences, and to acquire new contacts and specialized knowledge.
The workshops in our program will introduce you to concrete possibilities on how to become active in the field of migration and intercultural dialogue on a local level. You will be introduced to the different organizations and their activities and informed about how to join an existing project or even start your own.
In addition, there will be two group work sessions designated specifically to support your own initiatives or help you join an existing one. The event also intends to promote contacts between the Swiss participants and refugees and other migrants. A football tournament with refugees and other migrants will be organized in collaboration with Buntkicktgut. If you’re not into football, you can use the time to visit the Bleiberecht Café, where migrants meet and eat.
The official language of the weekend is English, in order to include participants from all linguistic parts of Switzerland, but this should by no means be a reason not to participate, as there will always be the possibility to express yourself in your own mother tongue. There is also a workshop held in German, and depending on the participants’ wishes, we will also offer French and German group work sessions.
