MONITORING
In order to measure the viability and concrete realization of the euphoria provoked by the experiences of the EYS’08, we formulated a list of subordinate objectives that will allow us to evaluate the success of our efforts.
In two occasions, one month and six months after the event, you will be asked to answer an e-mail based survey about the present state of your personal commitment. It is really important for us to receive a sufficient number of filled in questionnaires to assure that we are able to monitor our efforts.
The following criteria should help us evaluate our future success:
- EYS’09
In order to repeat the EYS experience in 2009, we will select amongst the EYS’08 participants a committee of five students capable of planning and carrying out the EYS’09. How you can apply for this committee and how we will choose the members will be explained in detail to you by your tutor during the EYS’08.
- EUforIA
- During the event, we will repeatedly mention the different possibilities of commitment with EUforIA: You can either join an existent local EUforIA group or found a new one, in both cases with the intention to collaborate in organising EUforIA events such as workshops, movie screenings, conferences, video conferences, social activities and so on.
- As we also have the wish to organize smaller events in different universities across Europe in the future, we shall endeavour to convince a maximum of participants of our concept of Informed Action. We thereby hope to motivate you to continue attending our events, to subscribe to our newsletter, to take part in discussions held on our blog, etc.
- Partner organizations
We want to achieve that a maximum of participants feel prompted to look for further information on the subjects addressed by partner organizations during the EYS’08, and to commit to them.
- Multiplier effect
- We aim for at least ten participants to write a report about the EYS’08, EUforIA or a derivative topic which is to be diffused in a university journal, an on-line magazine, a blog as well as in local and national print media.
- Furthermore, our survey intends to determine as to what extent you have spread the word about the EYS’08, EUforIA, its partner organizations and the treated topics amongst your friends via your for example your blogs, Facebook or MySpace.
- Behavioural changes
The parameter which is probably the most difficult to measure is the number of participants who modified their behaviour following their newly gained knowledge about the consequences of their actions.
Will a part of their behaviour really have changed? How many will pay attention to simple actions such as buying fair trade, organic food or environmental friendly products? Will someone decide to change his or her career plans? Will they vote more? Will many would use their bike more often, think of turning off electronic equipments and start recycling more? How many will decide to commit to a cause they are concerned about from the bottom of their heart?
This online survey aside, all participants will be asked to fill in a questionnaire on the last day of the event in order to enable us to take your needs into even better consideration during the next EYS.
Finally, from the ending day of the event on, we will provide an online space in form of an animated forum where you can continue to exchange and share motivating information and important concerns.
