TakingITGlobal

The potential for young people to make a difference in our increasingly digitalized and interconnected world can be considerably increased by an appropriate use of web tools. But what exactly are the possibilities for change offered to us by internet technology?

This workshop will introduce you to the work of the leading organization in this field: TakingITGlobal. Together with a TakingITGlobal staff member you will explore the potential of Web 2.0 tools: how they can be used for social change, to promote youth-led initiatives and to connect with other young leaders across the world.

During the workshop you will learn how to use TIG's project pages to manage your personal projects, how to use a Group page to connect with other organizations and individuals around the world, how to  access information on events and opportunities and much more! You will also learn how to get informed on and respond to global issues, how to express yourself creatively through TIG's Global Gallery and Panorama magazine and the many uses you can make of your personal profile.

This workshop is offered by TakingITGlobal, an international non-profit organization led by youth and enabled by technology.

Founded by Jennifer Corriero and Micheal Furdyk at the age of 19 and 17 respectively, its flagship program, TakingITGlobal.org, has become the most popular online community for young people interested in connecting across cultures and
making a difference. Hundreds of thousands of people visit the site each month toshare their unique knowledge, perspectives and experiences. The site is used by over 200,000 members in 200 countries and territories and it is available in 12 languages.
