Advocacy - How to plan a successful campaign

What do we understand by Advocacy?

  • It is a means of effectively putting a message across.

  • A way of communicating issues or causes that we are passionate about.

  • It’s about planning a strategy that will help you to make your cause part of other people’s reality.

  • Trying to engage more people to support your ideas.

  • It’s about ensuring that your message is out there in the public eye.

  • Reaching to people who might perceive there is a need but not feel inspired enough to bother do something about it.

There are different methods to do advocacy, from opening a facebook group to street campaigning, to lobbying governments, to talking to the media. Successful advocacy is a way of not only making people aware about your issue but to make them care enough about it, so that they will also take action.

The workshop aims at

  • exploring the history and different methods there are of advocacy.

  • getting a sense of the youth participation in the different levels of society.

  • encouraging people to start their own campaigns on issues that are relevant to them in their own communities.

Peace Child International (PCI)

With its simple mission to ‘Empower Young People’ PCI has supported young people around the world to produce books and musicals on their major generational challenges, funded youth to undertake community-based action projects of their own and created the World Youth Congress series.
