Human Trafficking

Human trafficking, modern day slavery, is the fastest growing, third largest criminal activity worldwide, right after arms and drugs trafficking. Every year, over 2.5 million people around the world, mostly women and children, are treated as commodities – something to be bought, sold, and enslaved. Almost every single country is affected, either as a country of origin, transit or destination.

Because of its scope, human trafficking is often seen as a global problem that we as individuals are powerless to influence. But the truth is, human trafficking is a local issue. It could be happening on the street where you live, work or socialize. This local issue needs the attention of local communities: yours.

In this workshop you will:

  •          Find out more about human trafficking, its causes, the international

legal framework and who the victims are.

  •         Learn how you can become active in the fight against human

trafficking in your very own community.
