STEP into action

EUforIA goes High School!

In February 2011 the first EUforIA event with high school students will take place in Basel. 800 students from different schools will be visited in their classes beforehand and confronted with the world they’ll live in by 2050. What will the world be like in 50 years, what are they afraid of and what is their role and responsibility?

After having chosen one of 5 topics (environment, human rights, solidarity, health, or sports&culture) they will be guided through a 3-hour path consisting in workshops, testimonials, debates and forum-theaters provided by different NGOs and young changemakers working in the respective fields. By raising their awareness for certain fields of action, students may then reflect critically on their own responsibility and impact. In the end there will be the opportunity to get in direct contact with NGOs, gain knowledge on how to get involved with internships and stays abroad or how to start their own project!

This concept is an adaption of the FLASH (Forum pour L’Action Social et Humanitaire) that has been developed and successfully carried out by the Belgian NGO Trans-Mission since 1996.
