euphoric news: May leaves (almost) nothing to wish for

After the lavish birthday-marathon last year, which made the headlines all over the world, euforia preferred to celebrate its 6th anniversary quietly, sheltered from public attention, at its favourite place in the world. A good moment to meditate and realize that there are sooo many things to celebrate:

  • The STEP into action is being replicated in Perú!
  • We will teach a 12 credits (!) imp!act class at the University of Bern this fall semester!
  • The applications for imp!act in Zürich and Geneva are now open: spread the word!
  • euforia.ch was presented as “site of the week” on euronews!

AND: Due to the awesome efforts of our STEP team there are almost 900 pupils signed up for the STEP into action in Basel and Zürich!!! There is but one issue with that: We are more ambitious than that, we want more than 1’800 pupils to attend the STEPs! Especially in Zürich we need your support: do you know someone who went/is going to school there? Or do you have a contact to local/cantonal authorities, school directors, teachers, …? Any help is welcome, just write carla@euforia.ch for more infos and/or join our facebook event “Das fliegende Klassenzimmer” (tibits gift cards to be won!).

Euphorically yours,

euforiaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

PS and don’t miss out on the great engagement opportunities & projects from Locomotive and dare2care !

Last, we are excited that Yoko is taking care of a cooking team in Geneva and we are wondering if anyone of you is interested to join her. Don’t hesitate and contact Yoko for further information: yoko@euforia.ch.

One STEP closer to our goals – WANTED: teachers for STEP into action!

This (and next!) month, our team’s efforts are mainly concentrated on one big task: recruiting as many teachers (and classes) as possible and getting them to sign up for the STEP into action! That’s why we are making lots and lots of calls – to school administrations and boards, to politicians, to other organizations, to personal contacts – and are activating all our networks. We have also had the chance to present the STEP into action in front of three teachers’ meetings, which proved to be quite effective. One school will be sending a whole year of classes, while another is participating with an entire division! Hooorray! A considerable number of teachers also have signed up individually already so that the number of inscriptions is increasing slowly but steadily. However we have to continue putting in our efforts in order to reach our goals. For motivational reasons we have set up a great prize (tibits vouchers!) for whoever recruits the most teachers. Please help us mobilize your (former) teachers from BS/BL/AG/SO/ZH/ZG, friends, contacts etc to participate in STEP into action with a class (see flyer) and join the contest! For the contest, just participate in our facebook event “Das fliegende Klassenzimmer”. You will find more information and useful documents in the description of the event.

Besides the recruitment of teachers, we’ve also been – and still are – contacting NGOs for the workshops and the Become Active Market (BAM). We are proud to announce that we have successfully assigned all of the five workshops to the following partner organizations: Amnesty International (human rights), Viva con Agua (health), Ökozentrum (environment), Imagine Festival/Terre des hommes (migration), Young Caritas (solidarity). We are very much looking forward to experiencing these five exciting workshops!

Apply to be a STEP into action facilitator (until July 15th) for the parcours and the school visits and benefit from a training in non-formal education and education for sustainable development, check here.

The CMN prepares After Class

The next project is coming up – we plan to start an amazing project at the University of Geneva in September. It’s called After Class – remember the name you are going to hear more about it!

After Class is a monthly Apéro bringing together students from different departments in order to promote diversity and exchange and supporting young social or environmental projects through ideas, networking and funding.

In order to make this idea come true, we are searching motivated young people to form the team of After Class and to rock the university life! Interested? There is a two-part summer programm you can participate to. Send us your applications till the 23 June!

MakeSense hold-up for euforia in “Bogen 33″

Probably Gabriela from „Bogen 33“ was more than a little surprised, as one nice Saturday two young women entered the furniture store and asked for a table and some chairs for a workshop. Little by little the table filled up, idea after idea was written on Post-its and the esteemed customers were made happy with some discreet energizers. Result of this first make sense hold up with euforia: 1 Tour of Europe, 2, make sense gangsters, 87 brilliant ideas for the euforia ambassadors, 148 min animated Brainstorming . Global network for social entrepreneurs for ever!

euforia seminar at the UNIBE!

From the fall semester on euforia will offer an innovative coaching seminar in the Bachelor Minor sustainable development at the University of Basel together with the CDE (Centre for Development and Environment)! The seminar gives students the opportunity to experience sustainable development in a practical way and to develop concrete project ideas or social enterprises in an interdisciplinary team to e.g. reduce the CO2 footprint of UNIBE, to make fair fashion more accessible or to revolutionize the donation market! The ideas and agendas of the students, as well as their practical and sustainable implementation, are the focus of this seminar. A space to try, to dare, to fail, to think ahead and to euphorically improve the world!

euforia in the Euronews

Euforia is the site of the week and our creative director Chantal is quoted by euronews! Check it out!

Meet Carla – our new/old intern!

Hello euforians and euforic friends!

I’m guessing you are wondering why I am presenting myself only now (half of my internship is already over. wow. time is passing by sooo fast!) as  most of you have already met me at actNOW! or at the strategic weekend. Well, we STEP-people are so hard-working and focused on the big challenges that we sometimes forget these little formalities. ;-) No seriously, we just forgot. Sorry. But better late than never, right? So here is my presentation.

My name is Carla Dossenbach, I am 23 years old and I grew up in Wil in the canton of St.Gallen. I finished my bachelor in social sciences at the University of Lausanne last summer and am doing a gap year now before I start my master in Geneva. As you already know, I am the intern of the STEP into action team. My responsibilities in the team are mostly everything that touches education – from contacting schools and teachers to writing and designing the info material for them, to organizing the teachers’ workshop and so on. Other than that I help out where I can, but mostly I do tasks related to communication or coordination. I really enjoy myself and I’m very glad to be part of the euforia family!

What else? I like laughing, travelling, sleeping, listening to music, going out, cooking, spending time with friends and family. Oh and I have recently started jogging. :)

I am very much looking forward to meeting you (again) and hope to see you soon, my dear euforians!

Carla
