« In my opinion, those might have been the 4 days when I learned the most in my entire life » - A participant’s word about a euforia event, 2010
Since 2007, over 200 young people organized about 30 euforia trainings and events all around Switzerland and abroad. More than 1’500 youth participated in these events, offering a platform to more than 80 concrete opportunities to take action on global challenges.
Evaluations conducted up to 6 months after our events show that 50-70% of euforia training and event participants became actively involved in the development of local solutions to global challenges. These new commitments took different forms:
- More than 80% changed their behavior following the event, in the fields of responsible consumption or transportation or in their studies.
- 35% joined an existing initiative, such as the Red Cross, IFIL.ch, or Soliterre.
- 18% launched their own initiative, such as João & Stefanie (www.refiller.ch), Marietta, Danielle, Andrea & Leo (www.dare2care.ch), Kati (www.mondopoly.ch), Tulsi (www.developmentvoyage.org.np) or Corinne, Danaé, Matthias, Severin, Simon & Elisabeth (www.careact.ch).
- 12% joined or created a euforia project team and are the main reason why this “impact” page exists.
euforia’s innovation and impact is widely recognized, notably by the following awards and prizes:
- Awarded distinction as project of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development by the UNESCO in 2011
- Selected as Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum in 2011 and invited to the Annual Forum in Davos in 2012
- Winner of the 2010 HUB Award at the Start-up Social Entrepreneurship contest in Switzerland
- Winner of the Vision contest 2010 – Studienaktie
