STEP into action 2013: Basel and Zurich

17. / 18. September in Basel (St. Jakobshalle)

1. Oktober in Zürich (Umweltarena Spreitenbach)

As a young, fun and educational project, STEP into action offers youngsters (16-19) the opportunity to explore their responsibilities as global citizens during an interactive and playful track. The event also offers them an occasion to rethink their role in society by taking action in their local environment.

Thought by young people, the event is managed by students who would have liked to get more informations when they were in school. During the event days, about 2’000 young people from Basel and Zurich will participate with their classes in this event, which will explore and present global challenges in a fun way, showing different opportunities to become active.

Every participant chooses a topic (environment, human rights, migration, cooperation, health) and follows a pathway with three milestones:

  • Awareness : briefing, workshops.
  • Reflection:  involvement of the young participants, roundtables, creative activity.
  • Action: Concrete possibilities of action at the involvement platform.

Inspired and informed, the young people go home  with a mine of information on how they can become active and the motivation to start acting fast.

STEP into action has already taken place very successfully in Basel (February 2011, see video) and in Geneva (November 2012).
